En-suite facilities in every room

All the bedrooms are single with telephone and en-suite facilities. Each room varies in size and shape and most are south or west facing with views of the beautiful gardens. The house retains much of the grand original features and residents may bring their own furniture for their rooms if they wish. There is a lift to all floors and a back door with a porch and ramp access.

Enclosed gardens & summer house

Holderness House is renowned for its beautiful large walled grounds, a green oasis in the centre of Hull. Ladies enjoy daily visits from the resident wildlife and the beautiful seasonal displays from the many fine specimen trees. We have a lovely summer house to enjoy in the warmer weather and the views can also be enjoyed from the pleasant sun room on the first floor.

Well-stocked library

Our beautiful library with views over the gardens is stocked with a vast array of books for every taste, including ones with large print and talking books. It is a well-used space by our residents and the selections are changed regularly. Adjoining the library is a lovely large sunny lounge with comfy chairs, a colour TV and a grand piano for social occasions.

Home-cooked food with dietary needs catered for

Our lovely bright dining room is used for all the resident’s meals and has a choice of menu options, including for those residents who have special dietary needs. Fresh fruit and vegetables are served every day and our welcoming dining room is one of the focal rooms in the house for residents to socialise together on a daily basis. Meals can also be served to a lady’s room if preferred.

Televisions in every room and Wi-Fi throughout

All our rooms are equipped with a television, or indeed a lady can bring her own television into the home if she would prefer. Every room has its own telephone and Wi-Fi is available throughout the House and is used daily to keep in touch with family and friends via online means. All residents can retire to the privacy of their own room at any time.

On-site hairdressing salon

Our resident hairdresser visits weekly and this lovely service is enjoyed by many of our residents. It’s a time to be pampered and enjoy the social company. We also have a registered chiropodist who visits the house regularly – and special requirements for other services can be made at the ladies or family request.

Daily activities programme

Weekly music and movement sessions are enjoyed by the residents, alongside a variety of entertainments that take place throughout the year. During non-Covid times the House is visited by school groups and choirs and fundraising activities take place at various times of the year which involve and include all the residents.

Visiting doctor every week

District nursing, doctors, dentists, opticians, community psychiatric nurses, dieticians, pharmacists – and all the people attending the House undertaking these services for our residents are from recognised authoritative bodies. All residents are attended by their own doctor wherever possible and the dentist and opticians visit regularly.
